Introduction

Welcome to my Rhyolite, Nevada web site. I have a passion for learning the history of Rhyolite; the Bullfrog Mining District; and the surrounding area. The history of the area is somewhat scarce and it is hard to find reliable sources. So much that I have come across is contradictory. One writer will report it one way and another will tell something totally opposite. The challenge of finding the truth of how it really was in the beginning at Rhyolite, Nevada has fueled my passion to learn more. I will be sharing my discoveries of Rhyolite, Nevada and the Bullfrog Mining District on this web site. Things that can be found on this Rhyolite, Nevada site are a photo gallery containing pictures of Rhyolite, Nevada and the surrounding area; a database of newspaper articles that mention Rhyolite, Nevada or the Bullfrog Mining District; the 1910 Rhyolite, Nevada US census; history; maps of the area and the Rhyolite, Nevada plat; and other things I find of interest in regards to Rhyolite, Nevada and the Bullfrog Mining District.

• Maps and Plat: This section contains various maps of the area and the Rhyolite, Nevada plat.
• Rhyolite History: The history section contains reports of the establishment; the development; and the demise of the townsite of Rhyolite, Nevada. Some history of the Bullfrog Mining District in general and some of the other town sites will also be published when available. When reporting the happenings from that era, I try to use information that was published during that time frame rather than publication from a recent date.
• 1910 US Census for Rhyolite, Nevada: The information from the census has been made into web pages with each name being listed individually with all the pertinent information found on the original census document. Each name is linked to a copy of the page it appears on with the line number indicated.
• Ghost Town: A little history on the building remains that are in the ghost town of Rhyolite, Nevada.
• Bullfrog Mining District: Information about some of the mines and mills that were in the Bullfrog Mining District, mining laws, definitions of commong mining terms, and more.
• Photo Gallery: The photo gallery contains photos of Rhyolite, Nevada as it stands today, as well as, historic photos from times past. It also contains photos of some of the other town sites and areas of the Bullfrog Mining District.
• Newspaper Archive: This is a database of newspaper articles that I have collected. I have transcribed all the articles for ease of reading. The actual newspaper page, in most cases is also available for your viewing.
