Vigilantes at Rhyolite
RHYOLITE, Nevada, June 21 -- The citizens of Rhyolite have organized a vigilance committee and suspicious characters will be given notice to leave the town at once or suffer the consequences.
The step was deemed necessary on account of the petty thievery that has been going on in the embryo city for some time past.
It is not the intention of the committee to act radically in any aggravated cases that may come to its attention, but it does propose to protect the people of the camp from sure-thing gamblers, thieves and the rounders that hang about new mining districts. Its officers are the leading men of the community.
