The Original Bullfrog Mine
Ed Cross and "Shorty" Harris had been working at the Keene Wonder Mine in the Funeral range with no luck and
decided to head for Goldfield. They stopped to camp at Buck's springs. While camping they did some prospecting and
found the Original Bullfrog in August 1904. The Original Bullfrog mine, which gave its name to the district, was
located about three miles west of the town of Rhyolite. It was on the outcrop of a quartz-ledge occurring between
limestone and porphyry. The gold could readily be seen with the naked eye.
