Rhyolite Nevada

and the Bullfrog Mining District

Rhyolite Jail House

On the account of the multitude of undesirable characters in the mining camp, the officers of the town found it necessary to ask for a larger and stronger jail. In January, 1907 at a meeting of the county commissioners the officers of Rhyolite, Nevada made a request for a new jail which was granted. The construction of the building commenced immediately and the cost was in the neighborhood of $7,000. The jail opened in March 1907.
