$20,000 School House

September 23, 1907 an election was held and passed for a $20,000 school bond issue. A modern school house, one of the best in the State at the time, was completed and put into use during the 1907-1908 school year. The two-story building was constructed of concrete with galvanized iron Spanish tile on the roof. There were three classrooms on the first floor and one classroom and an auditorium on the second. By the time the building was finished the population of Rhyolite had declined and the school was never filled to capacity. Lodge meetings and social events where held in the upstairs of the school and the lower floor served as classrooms.

The remains of this building can be seen when visiting Rhyolite, Nevada.
