By May of 1910, there were no street lights, the water company had closed, and the banks were gone. With the population down
to below 1,000, the Porter Store had a final sale and closed its doors for good.

The HD & LD Porter Store in Rhyolite, Nevada was built in 1906. It was a general merchandise store and carried just about everything a person could want or need. The store front can be seen on Golden Street in the ghost town today.

Rhyolite, Nevada had utilities just as any other city would. Telephone came rather quickly, followed by a water system. Electricity was the last of the utilities to arrive, but it did in due time.
